This style of tooling incorporates pneumatic power to clamp and or encapsulate a part for safe handling. AIMCO's Mechanical Grab End Effector is the most versatile tooling style, utilizing custom jaws and grip pads to handle an array of parts with various surfaces. The Mechanical Grab series is a design intensive class that comes in a wide range of shapes and sizes; they can be difficult to properly spec’ in, however, AIMCO’s extensive experience in designing and manufacturing will yield tools that work, regardless of complexity. AIMCO provides control packages that are designed for reliable product handling and can be supplied to manipulate loads in a variety of ways. Loads can be tilted, rotated, inverted, or simply picked & placed.
AIMCO produces vacuum lifters for a number of different industrial markets including (not limited to) glass handling, sheet metal, plate handling, cabinets, body panels, counter tops, and furniture. AIMCO’s Vacuum Grab End Effectors utilize venturi vacuum systems powered by plant compressed air. Venturi systems are ideal for applications where the surface of the product is non-porous. This method of vacuum generation is a safe and reliable means of product handling that places very little demand on plant air consumption. Low CFM consumption yields low costs of operation. AIMCO's Non-Powered Grab End Effectors are a great choice for material handling applications that involve straight picking and placing. If a common feature exists between all parts being handled (pockets, lifting eyes, or holes), a Non-Mechanical tool with forks, hooks, or probes, is simple and economical solution. As is the case with all Custom AIMCO End Effectors, the lifting device will be designed specifically for the task at hand. AIMCO has extensive experience in the design and manufacture of end effector tooling, from simple configurations to complex. Magnetic part holding is a good solution for carbon steel product with various part features such as scattered holes and/or complex surfacing. Automatic Single Rim Coil Grabs are designed for use in the primary metals industry. The grab has two opposing jaws to grip one wall of the coil (single rim) when in the eye vertical position. Grabs are custom designed per application.

This screw type grab allows for handling of a wide range of ingots. Additional grip force is applied by the wedge action of the points when the load is lifted. This unit is designed to grip an ingot in the vertical position and lay it down to the horizontal position. Grabs are custom designed per application.

Bushman Equipment, Inc. designs and manufactures a complete line of tongs for lifting and moving a wide range of industrial loads. We design each tong for the size, shape, weight and special conditions in your particular application. Supporting tongs are for single-size objects that have support clearance underneath, such as boxes, crates, bins and containers. The lifting feet of the tong support the load and maintain it on a horizontal lifting plane.
Gripping tongs are for materials such as ingots, rolls, tubes, pipes and other round or cylindrical objects. The tong extends beyond and below the center of the load to provide additional support. The diameter of the load may vary by approximately 25%, but the variation in length is generally unlimited.
Pressure tongs grip the vertical sides of slabs, bales, boxes, billets and other flat or round objects. Pads on pressure tongs provide surface friction or penetration of the load to maintain a safe hold during handling. Pads can be provided with rubber, belting, pins, hardened points, serrated bits and other materials.
Spreader beams and lifting beams are below-the-hook lifting devices that lift loads with single or multiple attachment points. They act as a crosspiece for spacing the hooks or chains that hold loads such as bundles, rolls, cylinders, and machinery. Bushman® spreader and lifting beams are designed for safety, durability and simple operation. All Bushman Equipment, Inc. lifting devices are designed and manufactured in accordance with the latest revision of ASME Spec. B30.20 and BTH-1: Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices. A wide variety of spreader beam models are available in many different design configurations. Bushman's most popular and basic spreader beam, the Model 439 has fixed position swivel hooks mounted at the ends of the lifting beam. This type of lifting equipment has a single pick-up point and safety latches on each hook.
Rotating axis grabs grip the ends of the load to change its orientation by rotating it about its horizontal axis. This lifting device can be operated manually or may be powered by an electric or air motor. The motorized rotating axis grab has increased the efficiency of an assembly process at a Falk Corporation plant in Milwaukee, WI. Falk is a manufacturer of industrial-mechanical power transmission components. Falk needed equipment to lift and rotate machined gear housings to give assemblers access to the top and bottom of the housing. This design allows the customer to position the gear cases properly, thereby eliminating product damage and improving the assembly process. The grab grips the outside of the gear case and rotates it 90° horizontally. A self-locking acme screw shaft, actuated by a motor, provides the gripping strength. In addition, a set of specially designed sliding incline planes automatically increases the gripping force based on the weight of the load. A reducer with an adjustable torque limiter protects the motor. An acme screw assembly, which accommodates a variety of gear cases with different centers of gravity, adjusts the bail. Two self-locking worm gear reducers, driven by electric motors, enable the rotation process.

Each ergonomically designed lifter permits precise rotation, from the vertical to the horizontal plane and beyond, for controlled pouring and dumping. All Bushman Equipment, Inc.'s drum handling units meet or exceed the requirements of the latest revisions of ASME Specifications B30.20 and BTH-1, Design of Below-the-Hook Lifting Devices. Each unit has a 3 to 1 safety factor, based on the yield strength of the material. This protects the operator, drum and its contents. The self-locking worm drive speed reducer holds the drum in position without roll-back.
